I am a police officer, not a programmer.

In the event the system just will not provide what you are looking for; will you have it "arrested" for obstructing justice.

Sorry - - but I just could not resist.

"""Alright computer, keys up!!!! Mouse behind your monitor"""

One other serious point in mind - you MAY have to extract your data in other ways; so check out whether or not you have file definitions and a development environment. Both would be necessary if you had to go that other route.

Luwapula,

I would take bewildered's advice - in one respect - you need access to the source code.

Only a complete IDIOT would expect a programmer to solve the problem without source code. Which does not say much for someone higher up in 'the food chain". Like bewildered, I fear you are being set up to fail. And I have seen this before. Fingers get pointed, and suddenly ITS ALL YOUR FAULT. Try to get another job LATER; with the cloud hanging over your head. WOM (word of mouth) will be your worst enemy jecause you will not have anything that can be used to clear your name.

Get out as quickly as you can; and hope that when the s--- hits the fan, you are long gone!!!! Meanwhile, my best advise is CYAWP - COVER YOUR ASS WITH PAPER. Write memos, document as best as you can, what or WHO is in the way of your trying to resolgve the situation.

Right now, I understand where you are at; as I know s--- about web servers, and putting up web pages; BUT I made that clear to the owner before I started this task. Both of us are proceeding "in the dark". BUT I know that I made that clear before I started out. Lots of luck - you may need it.

Rob,

Since you are taking the site down, you may want to take a peek at the database fragentation.

Response time inthe past couple of weeks has been a bit sluggish.

Neil,

A silly thought, have you checked the permissions the script normally runs with????

After all, 'root' has no restrictions on it.

In Topic: Prevent Form Feed On Report

lawalton,

I had EXACTLY the same problem when I was trying to get our PRO-IV based acctg system to correctly print on preprinted invoice forms. Both the form tossing at start of report, and stopping dead at the last line of the report were new tricks to me.

Lewis has one possible solution - check your model printer script, look for an "ECHO 14" being sent after the last file.

I lost a lot of hair trying to nail that one down. BTW, there are TWO incantations of the OKI 32x series - OKI emulation and IBM emulation. try to avoid any hard coding of control chars because if you replace one with the other, well . . . . . . . . . . . .

I used vvars to hold the start and end control sequences.
