Currency Fields

11 June 2004 - 12:55 PM

Does anyone know why PRO IV makes it so hard to put a right justified currency field on a report?

Seems to me this a pretty common requirement and I'm having a hell of a time doing it.

Currently I'm writing a global routine take the numeric, pic it to alpha and then right justify it.

Seems like a lot of work, but I don't know what else to do.

Can it be true that PRO IV doesn't have an easy way to do this, or is it just hard to find because of the poor documentation?

VIP Backup File

15 October 2003 - 12:13 PM

Does anyone have information about the VIP backup file?

We've been using VIP for about 6 months now and our backup file is 45% full. So, within the next 6 or 7 months we're going to be full and I'd like to do something about it way before then.

Is there a way to increase the capacity of this file, can we archive backups or do we need to go back to creating renamed copies of the functions to keep previous version(s) around?

Any info or advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom Haight

Tasks

27 June 2003 - 03:29 PM

Does anybody but us use them?

I find this feature very frustrating when trying to debug them.

I came out here looking for some advice, but there isn't a single post with the word task in it.

Documents in PRO IV

29 April 2003 - 02:38 PM

Does anyone know what Documents are used for in PRO IV and how are they different from Reports?

I looked them up in the PRO IV documentation, but I found it a bit lacking (big surprise!).

There is no mention of how they are different or why one would use them instead of a Report.

I tried entering one in VIP and didn't see any options that weren't also part of Reports.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Tom

Trapping SQL Errors

13 January 2003 - 03:01 PM

When PRO IV cannot communicate with SQL Server, or there is a datatype mismatch or any other SQL error, PRO IV halts the session and requires user intervention. I need to run a batch job that uses SQL tables, but do not want it to halt my overnight processing if there is an error. Is there any way to trap the SQL 366 error so that it doesn't halt the session? Has anyone had any luck with this?
