Despite (or because of) all the hype surrounding Wikipedia's 'accuracy', I thought I'd see what it held for PRO-IV... in summary it basically said 'harmless'.
I've changed it to say something roughly akin to 'mostly harmless', but I'm sure all you PRO-IV heads would like to see it improved - I'd suggest that we need to include sections on History, Description, Features, major Applications, and perhaps (links) on significant people in the PRO-IV world.
The PRO-IV page is at Wikipedia Pro-IV entry.

PRO-IV windows client over SSH
06 August 2004 - 01:07 PM
Did anyone ever get the client running over SSH to the server rather than good old telnet?
We'd like to use the GUI for dev, but our systems security guru gets nervous whenever we use the 'telnet' word...
On a related note, those of you using PuTTY for green-screen connections over SSH might be interested in a security hole - see this Slashdot article for details

CVS tool
30 November 2003 - 09:01 AM
Has anyone out there given any thought to developing an Open Source CVS tool for PRO-IV code?
I think it would be a good, and simple, small project for a few developers:
1. Needs a set of functions to render PRO-IV source to and from a flat, ASCII file which can then be stored in a CVS repository - a simple XML schema would do it;
2. Needs an integration module to present a GUI(?) front end to do all of the standard CVS things - edit, update, check out, and so on;
3. Should be integratable into other development tools - so should probably be presented entirely in global functions;
4. Should ideally be able to tie in via the GUI and green-screen.
Has anyone already done such a thing? Or is anyone interested in building one? I have a need for such a thing, I'd be willing to spend time on design, build and test if there's interest out there...
Cheers

Return code
08 October 2003 - 12:02 PM
We're getting a return code of 127 from a failed attempt to run PRO-IV - anyone know what this might mean? Or any of the other return codes for that matter?

It's that time again
26 July 2003 - 12:38 PM
The official Premier League fantasy team competition is on again and there's a league consisting solely of PRO-IV programmers (mostly in Australia), known as The Faithful Few. This season starts next weekend!
If you're interested in taking part in the battle this season, please let me know by email at danshannon@optusnet.com.au
Alternatively the site is at fantasy.premierleague.com - entry is free (and the prizes are mostly glory and bragging rights). We run a number of side competitions - see members.optusnet.com.au/danshannon/fantasyfootball.htm for last season's details (contained in a monster Excel spreadsheet which is distributed weekly). These include a Premiership, FA Cube (win a genuine cube of cardboard) and the Champions' League.
Looking forward to joining you in ritualised battle on the fields of the beautiful game
Cheers
