Hello,

Have any of you noticed inconsistent image caching with the proiv gui client (I'm using 5.6.7.0)? I have a scenario I'm unsuccessfully trying to reproduce and would welcome information on any similar scenarios other people have come across.

The system I am working on is replacing an older grey / p4 buttons application with a more graphics-rich application. I have been monitoring network traffic between p4 client requests and found the only way I can get image caching to work is by specifying a Web Site Address in the Developer Options area for the p4 client settings. I have found this works well with network shares / local file:// references and also exposing the relevant images on a web server and pointing to that - the images are all pulled down to the local cache directory and subsequent network calls are reduced in size. Initially when I was trying this I noticed that the default image for icons was not being pulled down, though the mouse over, clicked and disabled images were. I can't recreate this scenario but am concerned that it could reoccur on site. I noticed a previous post which mentioned a similar problem but in that case it was the mouseover image that was not being pulled in.

Unfortunately if this is a 'sometimes it works, sometimes not' scenario it's not really usable in production. The caching facility would be a real boon as the network infrastructure in place is currently (and for the foreseeable) quite slow, so any reduction in traffic volumes is would be good. Any insights gratefully received.

Jim.
