It's Christmas time
There's always a need to be afraid
At Christmas time, we let IT contract renewals fade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world we are all employed.
But say a prayer
Pray for the other ones
At Christmas time it's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a contractor outside your window
And he's shedding too many tears.
Where the only money flowing is what he should have saved throughout the year.
And the Inland Revenue’s calling.
They are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be any Turkey this Christmas time
The greatest meat they'll get this year is corned beef
Feel free to continue anyone ?
All tounge in cheek of course

Your poem doesn't rhyme.
But has all the truth of the real world!!!
Businesses are dreaming of their higher margins next year already and as usual hoping to achieve this by cutting the number of contract staff "not needed" anymore. Hang fast though as the new year brings new business and the contractors will be back...
Manpower just completed a survey that says 2005 is going to be a very good year for the recruitment sector. Can't remember where I read it so if I come across it today I'll post the link.
