We have migrated a green screen application from Unix to NT and in the process moved from CISAM to Oracle. We have overcome all the usual problems with printing etc but we have two major problems to resolve.
The first problem is that periodically users will get thrown out of the system with an Oracle message 'END OF COMMUNICATION CHANNEL'. This has been almost resolved by the addition of PRODB_CHARSET=7 in the PRO4.INI file (the end of message characters are picked up by Oracle if left to the default of 8) but we still have some occurences of this occuring. Oracle support have checked the problem and
laid the blame back on PROIV. This only started about the time of v4 5.3.2 and PRO IV support have no idea of what is going on.

The second problem is that users will get thrown out of the system with no errors/warnings or anything else. This is not the same as the first problem as no Oracle dump is produced.

Any help would be appreciated.

It appears that PRO IV and SQLNET 8 do not talk to each
other correctly. In the PRO4.ini file if the connect string
is set to username/password@host-name, the ORA 3113 error
will appear when the system attempts large table access or
the system is heavily loaded. If the 'host-name'is removed
the system will work correctly.
