George,
Sorry, I mixed up two problems I reported to pro-iv about the new client.
Yes, I did get a reference number from them for this issue.
The current state is "The details have been passed to 2nd line for review and response and they will contact you as soon as possible"
I will let you know whenever this changes

We also found out that the file type association for .piv is stored only for the user who installed the new pro-iv client. So the standard users, cannot click on the proiv.piv icon to start up the pro-iv client.
Just as an aside, we find it much more convenient to have a shortcut that runs proiv.exe and have the .piv as a parameter to this in the shortcut's properties. This makes it easier to have various proiv.exes installed and not have to worry about which one is associated with the .piv. (Indeed, I have .piv associated to Notepad or similar so I can edit .pivs easily.)
This is your captain speaking. We may experience some slight turbulance and then...explode.

The version 6.1 client (which is backward compatible with the version 5.5 kernel) allows you to specify the following within your piv as opposed to needing to specify these settings in the registry.
kApplicationIconFile=
kApplicationTitle=
kReportEditor=
kReportFileType=
I believe that the 5.6.16.0 client also respects these settings when specified within a piv.
