I have been trying to install the latest version of PROIV IDE and I keep on getting an error whenever I will open the IDE.
"Component 'ProIVClient.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

I already uninstalled and installed the IDE and still I get the error message.

Hi,

Once IDE is installed, can you check the following dir, C:\Program Files\ProIV IDE\ and are there 2 files in there ProIVClient.ocx and ProivRes.dll?

Also, do you have the ProIV Client installed on your PC?

If so, what version...

Thanks,

Rob.

Also,

Can you search your hard drive for other versions of ProIVClient.ocx or ProivRes.dll

If you find any, can you right click them and then select properties and then the version tab, and tell me the version of each file found.

Thanks,

Rob.

I got 0.1.55 Beta installed in my pc.

I do not have the 2 files that you are asking. All I have is ProivResIDE.dll and IDEUtils.dll for the dll files.

I cannot find any ProIVClient.ocx or ProivRes.dll files in my pc

Ok,

Can you check your registry for this then 486D2165-6DF1-11D2-AC92-00105A1054F5

Start regedit from the start menu and the 'run...' option

Then in regedit in the edit menu select 'Find' and enter 486D2165-6DF1-11D2-AC92-00105A1054F5 in the Find what box.

Make sure that 'Keys','Values' & 'Data' check boxes are all checked.

Do you find anything?

Also search your registry for the value proivclient.ocx

Do you know if you have admin rights for your PC and can you write to the registry?

I found 486D2165-6DF1-11D2-AC92-00105A1054F5 in the registry.

The values on the right side of the explorer is Name=(Default), Type = REG_SZ, Data = (value not set).

It contains the following folders:
- Control
- InprocServer32
- Insertable
- MiscStatus
- ProgID
- ToolboxBitmap32
- TypeLib
- Version

Yes, I have admin rights on my pc.

Hi,

"486D2165-6DF1-11D2-AC92-00105A1054F5" is the CLSID of the ProIV Client OCX.

This means that you must have previously installed the ProIV Client, and then removed it.

Do you have the ProIV Client installed anywhere on your PC?

Are you uysing ProIV GUI or Green Screen?

If your NOT using ProIV GUI, (which is what I presume since you cant find ProIVClient.ocx on your PC) , then it must be a registry entry left over from the uninstall, and it was not removed correctly.

To double check that the ProIV Client is not installed, the folder 'InprocServer32' under the registry key has the path to where the client was/is installed on your PC.

Please note that if you are using ProIV GUI, then this will stop it working, so you must be sure that you are not using it.

If you remove this entry from the registry, '486D2165-6DF1-11D2-AC92-00105A1054F5' (including the entries/folders you quoted below it) , and then try to install ProIV IDE again, it should all work fine.

I try to improve the detection of the ProIV Client in IDE, to not only check for the key, but also check that the actual dir exists also.

Hopefully this will sort it out.

Give me a post if all goes fine, or if you need more help,

Thanks,

Rob.

Hi,

Noticed that you are on version 0.55 of IDE, you should probably upgrade, because the new version is now 0.58, and there are some significant changes / features added recently.

Download from http://www.proivrc.c...dedownload.html

I've fixed the detection of a bad ProIV uninstall now, in the next version of IDE, which should be in a few weeks time.

If removing the registry key does not help (or you are using Proiv GUI client to access ProIV), then give me a shout.

Thanks,

Rob.
