Sorry about the unsuitable post guys. I've only just spotted it and I think Rob's out of communication range at the moment. I've banned that IP so hopefully there shouldn't be any more.

Cheers

Mike

As a suggestion - how about making sure you have to register to make a post ? ie; no guests ?

I think that discussion's been had before. If not on the 'new' proivrc then certainly on the old robdon. I seem to remember the consensus was that people would rather have the odd dubious post than be forced to register.

Anyway, that one's up to Rob when he gets back.

Cheers

I see your point Phil, but I suspect it'd be kind of a pointless exercise unless one was prepared to correspond briefly with each new registrant to confirm their "identity" (real or otherwise) ;)
Nothing's as simple as you think

Where's Rob then?

There's rumours he's got a 2nd job moonlighting as a carpet fitter. We heard that he invented a new machine for fitting carpets, and called it the Pro-Floor Superlayer.

The professional carpet fitters at Pro-IV have, however, pointed out that his new invention doesn't interface correctly with the existing skirting boards and anyone fitting carpets on a commercial scale should approach it with caution.

;)
Magicians disappear all the time, but as soon as a regular person does it, everyone is all scared.

Richard makes a good point. The bottom feeders on the internet who take time to search out places like this to post links to incest sites, Russian mail order brides, etc. would hardly be deterred by having to register.

Quite simply there's no sufficient corrective action for this that would make proivrc anything other than a closed community with a very limited number of participants.

However, if a corrective action is desired, I would suggest the following. Prevent guest accounts and people who have been registered for less than two months from being able to create posts with web links.

Regards,

Joseph

The price of freedom of speach is that occasionally we have to hear from the deranged, the twisted, the hate mongers, and the loonies.

Personally, thier sad commentaries make me grateful that I am not like them.

Do I like it? NO.
Would I stop it? again NO.
Would I delete their posts and/or ignore them? MOST DEFINATELY.

Good move!

Glenn
