Hi,

I have now released ProIV IDE into the Beta phase, as it is getting nearer to completion.

You can now download it and have a look.

Please go to the following link to find info and the download instructions.

Any comments, bugs or help needed then please either email rob@proivrc.com, or post in this forum.

Thanks,

Rob D.

Hi,

ProIV IDE Client is normally used to develop functions on a server (ie a ProIV Kernel).

If you do not have the access to install the server side, you can still look at ProIV IDE's functionality by using the CSV Load.

When ProIV IDE client is installed, there is a dir created under C:\Program Files\ProivIDE called SaveCSV. This directory contains 3 example CSV files that hold 3 ProIV Functions.

You can load them up into ProIV IDE without the ProIV Server side, just by installing the ProIV IDE Client on your PC.

To load up a CSV function, once you start ProIV IDE, in the OpenItem form, there is a button labeled 'Load CSV'. Just click that and select one of the CSV files to load.

When loading via CSV file, you cannot use the Xref or system search utilities because they dont currently work with CSV files. But you can still see how ProIV IDE works.

Hi,

I have had to put up a new version, there was a problem with date conversions within some countries with the trial date.

The error would have crashed the ProIV IDE Client as soon as you started it, if your version did not crash right at the start, then this bug did not effect you.

It only happens for some countries / regional setups, Italy being one of them.

The new version is 0.1.5 (The version number is displayed in the title bar at the top of ProIV IDE)

If you downloaded the first version (0.1.4), then please download the new version of the client from the link below.

http://www.proivrc.c...oide_client.exe

All the original download links have been updated with the new version (0.1.5).

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Rob D.

I've had a look at the client side at looks pretty impressive but my problem is that Proiv kernel is on a unix server running version 4 r5.04
what are the chances of getting to work on that version????

Hi,

Yes I am thinking about supporting 4.0 - 4.6, if there is enough interest.

IDE will basically work for any version of ProIV that has the GUI Client, I just have to recompile with the old bootstrap files for that version and remove any reference to any new variables / Properties.

I'm note sure yet if I will have a separate version for 4.0 or just try to incorporate 4.0 & 5.0 (and soon 6.0) into the same client.

The problem is that ProIV sites tend to be very slow at upgrading to the newest version of ProIV, so I really need to be able to support all the environments in just one client, so the old sites still can benefit from new development in IDE.

This should not be too much of a problem for me, because I can just restrict the properties that are not available in the old versions, and just recompile the ProIV Server sides with the correct bootstrap versions. Theoretically ;)

The biggest problem I will have is integrating with VIP bootstraps, since they have been overly complicated. But its only 1's and 0's so I'll just have to persevere :p

I think you'll find there's some 0.5 in there too.
In fact quite a lot of irrational numbers
