Has anyone been experiencing random memory faults / core
dumps using ProIV V4.0 Rel 5.2.6 & SCO UNIX Open Server5.
This is something that we have related to Tuneable
Parameters or corrupt *.pro files in the past.
This is totally random & not repeatable & we cannot find any
pattern with this. It is happening with customers with older
machines & mid performance nachines & New fast machines.
It seems only to be with Open Server & This release & it is
starting to happen on a more regular basis.
ProIV & Core Dumps.

If it is truly random, then it suggests problems with the version you're using: have you tried upgrading to 4.0 r5.3.2? This is the latest and I've had no problems on our systems with this version (we only used 526 for a very short time!)

Some time ago I experienced a similar problem, but in an earlier version of 4.0 (can't remember which release). This I eventually tracked back to global function calls. The problem was that the core dump did not happen immediately after returning from the function call, sometimes it would be 5 or 10 minutes later, depending on what the operator was doing.
Core dumps are a hazard of PRO IV, there are at least half a dozen easy ways of causing them (e.g. LSCALL from a control break logic, ctrl-C from report to screen).
