We are converting our Unix character based system to GUI. Does anyone have any good, concise docs on GUI printing? We have spoken to some other vars and everyone seems to have their own approach. Some use Crystal but since they were purchased by Segate their pricing has skyrocketed. Some bypass PRO-IV by dumping ascii files and then running scripts. We want a simple PRO-IV only implementation until we get our software released. We have had trouble getting fonts to print properly in addition to simple mapping problems. Thanks.

A good way to do this is using the XML output feature of PROIV 5 reports. The resulting documents can be sent to the client
using client send and graphicalliy rendered using a style sheet. A more sophistacated approach would be to use XSL and formatting objects FO to format the output via a web server and send to a printer. This is in affect what is now being done by the latest crystal engine but you don't need crystal to get the same results and your using the power of PROIV reports.
