embedded sql in global logics

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can embed sql in global logics?
I thought that version 5.5 made it possible to call Oracle functions within global logic.
I tested it and it seems that it allows the SQL block but doesn't do anything with it.
I know that I can use a global function and then call this from the global logic but I find this a bit too elaborate.
