In Topic: SQL_DBNAME

12 July 2007 - 09:39 AM

Hi Vol

I don't know whether it's possible to retrieve SQL_DBNAME using &$@~SQL_DBNAME, but if it isn't the following Oracle SQL may help.

SELECT sys_context('USERENV','DB_NAME') FROM DUAL;

Other parameters for sys_context are listed at: http://www.techonthe...sys_context.php

Hope this helps.

Paul

SQL_DBNAME works for me, as does :

$BOOTS = &$@~PROPATH
$DATA = &$@~PRODATA
$DB = &$@~SQL_DBTYPE
$SQL_USER = &$@~SQL_USERNAME

Cheers

In Topic: VIP internal error

Hi,

Sorry Rob, there was a problem with attachments and disk space, so your attachments didnt work.

Can you attach them again...

Are you getting the VIP error after it runs for a while.... looks like it is blowing the size of the sort file... which there isnt much you can do about, I dont think....

Rob.

Hmm, I found that removing all the "SRT" files from the boots directory seems to solve the problem. VIP goes off and creates new ones if they don't exist! :eek:

Cheers Rob.

Maybe you should check how much space is on that device.

yeah, I think we may have ran out of space, which corrupted the "SRT" files that VIP uses.

In Topic: Postgres 8.1 PACKAGE FUNCTION deprecated.

15 February 2007 - 09:54 AM

I would like to create global variables from PL/pgSQL using PostgreSQL 8.1 on the ff. PL/pgSQL.
-- CREATE PACKAGE with global variable
CREATE PACKAGE pack
as
v_seq NUMBER;
END;

PACKAGE funtion in Postges 8.1 PL/pgSQL is deprecated.How can I v_seq a global variable in Postgres 8.1,for v_seq to be available in PROIV?PACKAGE method is now deprecated in 8.1.
Thank you for upcoming ideas.

Matthews Estrice

Are you looking to create a sequence number or a global constant ?
for sequences look at :
create-sequence
drop-sequence
list-sequences

In Topic: Identity columns in Sql server in V6

09 January 2007 - 10:11 AM

Joseph,

Thanks for that - reading through the forum that seemed to be the way in v5 and below, was hoping that Pro-IV had done something extra in v6 to cater for identity columns.

Not really what I want to do though since it will mean I will have a whole load of dummy tables.

If I do come up with something though will let people know.

Thanks

Lee

TF.

Have you tried the "null permitted" setting in the File definition and using SETNULL() on before write?
