Embedded SQL in Global Logics

09 October 2003 - 03:43 AM

Has anyone experiened any problems trying to put frequently used embedded SQL into global logics and calling them from multiple functions.

It seems to work OK, UNTIL I try and use a bind variable then all hell breaks loose. Well ProIV gives me a SUBSCRIPT OUT OF RANGE ERRROR:

@RFUNCT

qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq
The following error occurred, causing your function to
be aborted and an automatic rollback to be performed. 13:39:24

@MSG [ 15]
@MSGTEXT [015 - SUBSCRIPT VALUE NOT WITHIN RANGE OF DIMENSION - -717171717]
@MSGARGS [] x

@SYSERR [ ]
@SYSERRTEXT [ ]

Press [ ]
qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq

Has anyone experienced this before and managed to overcome it?

Problems with SQL DYNAMIC inV5 r109

13 February 2003 - 10:54 PM

Has anyone come accross problems with SQL DYNAMIC on version 5 rev 109.
It seems that the dynamic WHERE clause will only be evaluated once within the function. If the WHERE clause is changed and the SELECT executed again the data set is not changed and the original results are returned.

Has anyone else encountered this or EVEN come up with a work around.

Fields included in ProIV SELECT statement

14 January 2003 - 03:57 AM

For some reason I was under the impression that ProIV will only SELECT from an ORACLE the fields that it uses in the function, does anyone know if this is this correct?

I have ran a ProIV trace for a function and it seems that ProIV is SELECTing all the fields from a paticular filedef.
This is causing us a problem because there are more than 255 fields and we are then getting a BUS error.

Has anyone encountered this before? (and found a solution).

Returning a value from a PL/SQL

07 October 2002 - 04:36 AM

Is it possible for ProIV to receive a return value from a PL/SQL function or procedure?

I am trying to call a PL/SQL procedure from a ProIV function and want to use a value returned from it.

Cheers
