IBM AIX 7.x

09 July 2015 - 02:38 PM

Good day Fellow Developers!

I just want to know if anyone knows if Pro-IV Kernel 4.6 will work properly on AIX 7.x.

We are refreshing our Chess servers with new machines that has unsupported AIX 5.3 environment.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

Pro-Isam Temporary Table

04 September 2014 - 02:10 PM

Hello everyone.

It's been a while since I messed with Pro-Isam files. My goal here is to purge all the records contained in this temporary file. At the same time maintain all the page sizing of the file. As you can see below, the file has grew to about 135MB. It's been years since this was purge.

What is the best way of doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Help! Chess AIX printing

23 June 2008 - 12:38 PM

I'm having printing problems on one of our custom report in Chess. It currently prints okay on our current Chess environment but not on our new test enviroment (We're about to migrate to a new machine). The report is printing on landscape (on 132 column setting) but it wraps the text like it is an 80 column report. Somehow, I need the text not to wrap so that it will look like it's on one line. Again, this report is working fine on our current Chess production but not on our new test environment. I'm thinking the problem might be on the Chess print queue setting. Here's the specs on the current and new environment

Current environment
OS: Tru64
Pro-IV: 4.0

New environment
OS: AIX
Pro-IV:4.6

I'm relatively new to Unix (I'm a programmer not a Unix admin). We're using SMIT (System Management Interface Tool) to configure our Chess print queues. Does anybody has any idea on this? Thanks in advance.

Preventing delete on a /PS/

18 January 2008 - 01:37 PM

I'm having problems preventing a delete on a /PS/ if a condition is met. Somehow, I've tried putting a DSEL, DSELF, FLD(@FLD), etc. and nothing works. Here's a sample of my code which is on the ARNE of the table. I'm trying to prevent a delete when a user is not a "SUPER" user.

IF @MODE = 'D' THEN
$V_ALLOW = 'N'
LSCALL $CHKSUP - (CHECKS TO SEE IF SUPER USER)
IF $V_ALLOW = 'N' THEN (IF NOT SUPER USER)
MSG 5 (DISPLAY MESSAGE)
DSEL
EXIT
ENDIF
ENDIF

Thanks in advance.
