call P4 from Unix shell using 'here is' document

27 November 2001 - 01:13 PM

this use to work in ProIV v3 but doesn't seem to work in v4.6 (I don't know about v4.0) (Solaris 8 and HP-UX 11.0)

pro ABC ABC < 1

In v3 the above syntax would run ProIV from the command line and pass the strings between the EOFs as if they were entered from the keyboard. In v4.6 the input is ignored.

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, what was the resolution.

ISPACK running in background

07 May 2001 - 06:23 PM

The following works on HP-UX 11.0 and 10.20:

ispack file.pro &

...but it doesn't work under Solaris 2.6, 7 or 8. I have tried ISPACK executables from PROIV 3.09, 4.0 and 4.6 distributions, all with the same result:

Segmentation Fault - core dumped

Anybody know why this might be happening. I need to run ispack out of cron and it seems that whenever ispack is run without a terminal attached to the process I get this error (only on Solaris).

Anybody encounter this before, any suggested work arounds would be appreciated.

iscollect - adding pid to slot

28 March 2001 - 11:33 AM

I have started to receive the following output into one of the logfiles of a PROIV process running in the background.

I'm pretty sure its from iscollect, is there any problem here? Can I turn it off?
