Question on DDE_EXECUTE

22 April 2010 - 04:31 AM

I know that most forum members don't really use DDE much, but we tend to use it extensively here in my company.

However, I have an issue regarding using EXCEL at the same time that the DDE PROGRAM is running.

For example, the Workbook Name is Book1
When I execute #S = DDE_EXECUTE('EXCEL', 'Book1', '[WORKBOOK.INSERT(1)]'), it should be creating a new worksheet in the Book1.

If for example, the focus of my screen is on another EXCEL workbook (e.g. ANOTHER), the new worksheet will be inserted in the open EXCEL workbook instead, even though I have specified that the new worksheet should be created in Book1.

Does anyone know if there's a way around this? Or if this a DDE bug?

Thanks for all the help.

Question on special characters

20 July 2009 - 04:53 AM

Hi there! I have this customer who used a client on a Windows 98 machine. He frequently entered special characters as part of the text (ALT224 - alpha, ALT234 - Ohm, etc). However, now that machine 'konked' out, and they then got a new PC with XP. However....now they can't enter the special characters! Any ideas, anyone?

Open Office and DDE

17 July 2009 - 06:53 AM

Hi there!

Does anyone know the differences for using DDE with openOffice? I've several applications with DDE connectivity to Excel, but have this customer asking about openOffice. As far as I know, DDE is only supported with Excel for PRO4. Any ideas or feedback (better yet, instructions (w00t) )? I've tried replacing the 'EXCEL' part of the DDE command with 'scalc', but it just doesn't pan out.......

Bus and Tasks questions

18 June 2007 - 04:18 AM

Dear all,

I recently tried to install the eAccess Module of Glovia that uses Bus and Tasks.

Task Execution Failed with PRO-IV Error: Task status shows task failed, status:No active kernel session. -8:0:0

null null null
null null
null null null
null null
null null null

I know there was a similar thread a few years back, but there was no reply. Any ideas?

Also, is there any documentation for a novice at bus and tasks? From what I have, the documentation seems targeted as a reference rather than a guide

Thanks in advance

Glovia Logon Screen CPU Usage

12 April 2007 - 09:41 AM

Dear all,

I have a rather strange problem. According to one of our clients, the user just entered the PROIV service and left it at the LOGON screen (booking a license). Anyway, they traced the CPU usage from the server and determined that this user's thread was holding nearly 30% of the CPU Power.
My questions are as follows:

1) Despite all I tried, I am unable to replicate this problem. Could someone please advise me as to how this problem can happen? For your info, the client is using Windows XP and the server is using Solaris

2) based on the screen shot, the user somehow managed to enter 'add' mode on the logon screen; where all modes are disabled! (The add button on the upper side was depressed and the word ADD appeared in the bottom right). Any idea how this works?

For your info, we're using PROIV Version 4.6 (Revision 5.0.0)

Thanks in advance
