IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT HAS SUCCESSFULLY USED THE &#@SQL-SORT COMMAND? WE HAVE TRIED USING IT, BUT NOT WITH ANY SUCCESS.

Nope - never worked in a way I could understand or trust (V4.0 at that time).
Hence I recommended not using it (and not using the somewhat related WHERE feature) in the ISAM to Oracle porting tips I posted on 21 Oct. for Chris Mackenzie.
If you get anywhere with it let me know - TVM.
