A small number of our users with laptops are suddenly getting the 'an unsupported operation was attempted' error. Does anyone have any experience with this.

We are on ProIV version 5.5 and connect to an Oracle 11g database and use the VIP development tool.

Any help is appreciated.

Win7 on those laptops? What version of client are they running? 5.5 as well? Have you tried V6 client software?

Since everything was working fine the day before, the first thing to do is not to assume it's a Pro-IV bug. The second thing to do is to see if any programmer made any updates that night, or if this is only happening to a select few, what updates their computers did that night. If no developer made did any releases/updates then perhaps the simplest thing to try is to do a restore on one of the laptops to see if that fixes the problem.

I think you're right AK. We resolved the issue by deleting all traces of ProIV from the problem computers and reinstalling WebClient. The downside is that we may never find out what stepped on it in the first place, but at least we have a fix if it happens again. Thanks to all who responded.
