Hello All,

Has anyone seen this before: We upgraded to 6.2.58 on Windows with SQL Server. We then periodically get PROIV hangs where entire PC is hung. PROIV always hangs when I try to gen a list of functions but not until it gets somewhere above function 100 in the list. Thanks.

Lew

We sometimes experience a similar situation to this when performing any list based tool with maybe 30 functions or more. The local computer behaves as if Windows thinks Proiv has timed out, but if we wait long enough the Proiv process finishes and Window is happy again.

Client Version 6.1.57 (local machine is Vista:))

Hi Michael,

How long are you actually waiting until it times out?

Just exported around 170 functions/files:
Proiv client times out after about 7 seconds, but after a minute of the progress bar stuck at 11%, the export is completes successfully.

Thanks. I am going to install on a different box and see if I get the same behavior.

Currently running 6.2.58.0 on two different Dev servers (Windows/SQL) . I haven't experienced any freezing or the like when doing exports or imports

Neil,

We have never had this happen before either. I uninstalled version 6 and installed version 7 last night. All seems ok so far but time will tell. I previously had it work when I reinstalled 6.2.52 only to have it hang later. The hangs are not limited to gen or export of lists. They have also occurred during coding usually with multiple windows open - but not always.

Also running 6.2.58.0 on Linux 2.6 (64 bit) and have not experienced this issue. I think it is important to install (isin) the complementing the new developer.out into your boots directory, as this step is sometimes missed in the install.
Things should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler

Darren,

I agree. We took care to avoid that issue. I exported everything and then imported into a clean boots each time.

Ok I installed version 7 and still had the same problem. I then logged in as administrator (Windows 7 built in administrator) and so far (3 hours) it is working. The user l was logged in as previously was an administrator but not the built in account.

The problem resurfaced in PROIV version 7 as well. Had to reinstall my entire system from Windows on up. Now with a shiny new install, everything humming along. Haven't a clue what the problem was but now I am hesitant to install the other programs I had on the original system. I have a feeling something doesn't play well with PROIV. If anyone knows of any software which has caused problems with PROIV, please let us know.
