Hi,
I'm new to ProIV so apologies if this is a dumb question.
We've got a server running an app based on ProIV which we're looking to virtualise onto VMWare ESX server. I've done a trial conversion using the VMWare Converter tool. The virtual machine looks fine as far as the OS and SQLserver go but when I try to start the client application on the server console I get a message saying I'm not serialized for this SiteID, and something about running build and verifying license information.
Can anyone help with how I do this, and do I need to get a new license key? Also since this was just a test migration and my intention is to destroy the virtual machine and migrate again for real, will I then need another license key bearing in mind the serial #s of disks etc will have changed again?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Serialization problem after converting to virtual machine

Rob,
After you build the VM image, you need to find and remove the pro4.ini file, and then re-run the licencing program to put it into evaluation mode.
Under windows, the pro4.ini is in the system directory, and the licencing is in the pro-iv program group.
Under *nix, the pro4.ini is in /etc, and the licencing program is called "build", and lives somewhere in the source pro-iv installation directory.

Mike,
Thanks for the info, I've got the VM running in evaluation mode (although it says emergency mode when I run the licensing utility). This is enough for me to prove the application works fine in a VM anyway and I've sent off all the necessary info to get a license key. I think once I've got it properly licensed I'll keep this VM and just migrate the SQL DBs etc from the physical server.
Cheers again!
