Are any of you out there fluent in reading Deutsch and writing English, and wouldn't mind spending a few minutes translating about 20-lines of a formal/business language letter written in Deutsch, that I could email you?
Just as a side note, this is a personal request, not a business-/company-related request.
Thanks/Danke
Rick

Aye, I tried babelfish and unfortunately the one key portion did not translate in a manner that I was confident I got the intended meaning.
So far with some local help (in the context of "I have not spoken German in over 30 years"), the letter in question seems to be implying that there is a misunderstanding of our original English request to a govt department.
I'm therefore hoping that somewhere I can find someone very fluent to translate "meaning".
Cheers
