I want to export the data in a file to a local text file (file like c:\result.txt),
without using a Report function.
how to correct handle this ;)

Create a flat file definition with a type of SEQ or BIN (depending on the CR/LF settings you want). This should have no key values, just a text field of suitable length.

Most systems already have a generic file def for this so check before you create a new one.

ALIAS this file to the text file you want to write to.

Make sure the text file exists (e.g. touch it in 'nix)

Use the file in 'A'dd mode.

That's it ;-)

Just be aware that there is a 2000 character limit in an ASCII file. Depending on the size of your records, that may be an issue.

If you are using pro-isam or c-isam look at http://www.net-aware.com for tools to extract your data records to a text file.
