Does anyone know how to chnage the Default Clients Help file?

Currently, if you select 'Help Contents' from the Help menu on the client, or press [F1] during a session, its attempts to open a file called PROIV.HLP.

We would like to change this option to ba able to open a help file of our own choosing - is this possible ?

TIA

Try this :

#A = SET_HELP_FILENAME('MY_FILE.HLP')

Andy

Just curious, is there a free software to create a help file? Is there a way to modify or add (for customized functions) the default help file? thanks!

Does this mean that I have to change the help file in Superlayer function? Does this one time job or each user has to run this function for each session they login?

Thanks.

It would appear that you only need to set the help file option once for each session. The helpfile remains for the duration of the session.

As for the programs to create help files - I am using the 'Help Workshop' that is supplied with Visual Studio 6 Professional or Enterprise versions. These can be downloaded from the Microsoft Website - though I don't have the URL at this time - I'll post it, as soon as I find it.

We use a commercial product called Doc To Help which is an add-on to Word as are most products. Robohelp is another well regarded product.

For a shareware product look at

I believe this product will only produce Windows help files and not HTML files wich are/will be(?) supported in PROIV v5.5
