I installed the Pro-IV ver 5.5 Rev 3.4.0 on fedora Linux release 5. It looks to work fine but gives an error trying to connect to the postgres database. when I discovered the error, it happens to be the telnet service that cannot connect to the 5432 port. when you try to execute the telnet command directly on the operating system prompt, i.e: 'telnet i.p.address:5432' it gives the error "Temporary failure in name resolution".

Does anyone knows what that means ?

Any Help would be appreciate

Thank You.

Ths is often caused by no localhost entry in the hosts file but can also be caused by various initial security settings of the linux distros.

llony,

FYI: I don't know if this may be your issue or not.

The default port for ProIV bus & tasks is 5432. The default port for postgreSQL is 5432.

If you installed both and did not change the default ports. You may have port contention.

hth,

Joseph
