Another thought....are you doing ENABLE(&#@SETCRT)? Not sure if this works in the Logic In of the R function, or whether you need to do it in a preceding U.

After more experimentation, we've found dropping the firewall completely allows the tasks to run successfully. We had opened up the default port for tasks and made sure nothing else was using it, but for some reason that doesn't seem to be enough??

This is why I find it important to use p4task to test with - that way, you know whether the problem is "inside" or "outside" of the server.
I believe I read somewhere in the B&T manual that port 999 is also used (aside from 5432). I have a vague recollection that Rob D (?) mentioned in a thread somewhere that it also used other ports.
