Guys,

Im trying to connect Pro-IV 5.5 on one serer to an Oracle 10G instance on another server. The Pro-IV Environment Guide has got me this far with the pro4_64.ini.

[Environment]
[Database - TEST]
FILETYPE=ORACLE
CONNECTION=logon/password@t:machine2:oraclehost

But when I run Pro the following error is occurring.

INI file error: line 11 col 0 'Invalid CONNECTION string'.

Any of you guys out there configured pro4_64.ini in this manner and know the correct syntax?

Do you have the Oracle 10G client on your Proiv Box?

We have been running 10G for 4 Months.

Our application server is on one box with 4 processors. Our oracle box has 8 processors.

Works like a champ.

HTH Bill. ;)

Another Question.

Are you running Windows servers?

If so, your proiv.ini needs to be in the windows directory and place a pointer to each user's ini in the proiv 55 directory such as [USER TEST]
PROIVOPER=TST
PROIVCODIV=PCI
INIPATH=C:\PRO55\TEST.INI

Ian,
Possibly dumb or irrelevant question but..
Have you tried a simple SQL*Net servicename with no colons in it?
Nothing's as simple as you think
