Oh, BTW....

If you are still getting errors, you could try turning on the trace (TRACEALL = 15) , login and make sure you get the error and then send me the .TRC file.

I would not post the TRC file here, since it could hold your customer data etc..... And please winzip it also :(

Joanne,

Could you show also the TNSNAMES.ORA and LISTENER.ORA? It seems that you application does not resovles TNS name.

One possibiltiy is that you have two Oracle versions running at the same and the Listener gets confused.

Does tnsping prodemos works?

Joanna,

Try to change your tnsnames.ora:

Before change:

PRODEMOS =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = TWINHEAD)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PRODEMOS)
)
)

After change:

PRODEMOS =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = TWINHEAD)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = PRODEMOS)
)
)

BTW, do you have more than 1 Oracle version installed in the same server?

Regards,

Vol

By the way all, if you are using Oracle8i or a higher version, avoid manually manipulating the LISTENER parameter files like TNSNAMES.ORA and LISTENER.ORA as this will lead to problems when setting up your LISTENER service. I learned this the hard way during my first server installation of Oracle8i and I don't mess around with those files anymore. Oracle recommends you configure these files using the Net8 (for Oracle8i) config tools.
