Hi,
I just upgraded to version 5.5r302 and I have noticed that if I try to go into @UM option 18 (ie Import/Export) and import my native functions, it says that all importing should be done in VIP!!
So I go into VIP and try to import my functions, but VIP is only allowing .vpx files and I cant get it to import my .prx native file..
Has anybody been able to import a .prx in VIP????
I cant belive that they have blocked all native importing now???
Thanks,
Rob D.

Hmmm... That was my first thought
I realy hope they have not 'intended' to do this and its a mistake.
As this could be a serious problem for ProIV.

If you go into the Project Administration window in VIP you will notice two radio groups at the bottom on the right. By default VIP is set up to block other editors. This is to protect your native source changes from being overwritten by VIP.
If you change the radio group to either Edit or Warn you will be able to import PRX files using $XFR.

Ahhh.. yes thats not so easy when your in GreenScreen only.. is it
VIP (and $XFR) seem to use the file VIPD099.pro to store the state in.
This file has a record called 'OtherEditorsAllowed' and a flag that seems to be set as follows..
B - VIP only
E - No Warning
W - Warning.
If you have the bootstaps, then just change this flag.
Or you can ISIN the .out file that I have attached to this post, into the boots dir and it will change the flag for you to 'E', no warning.
Make sure that no one is in VIP, DS or $XFR while you ISIN the .out file. Just to be safe.
*************
Covering myself:
While I have tried this and had no problems and I cannot see any problems you could get, you should take the various precautions like backups etc, before you attempt this. And I take no responsibility for anything nasty that might happen

This is old ground that has been trodden many times before on this site - but we're using VIP in anger now, and (after the inevitably horrible learning period) we've found it to be miles faster than anything else we have used.
There's some really neat features that surprise you - as well as some gliches that tend to annoy, but we've had a glimpse at the latest release and it has ironed out a lot of the annoyances (seems they do listen after all).
It's also got some slick new features which we can't wait to get our hands on.
It's only our opinion - but we like it a lot. Saying that though - I'm really keen to see your development environment Rob. As developers we just need the fastest and easiest tool to do our jobs. For us - it's VIP at the moment.

Magicians disappear all the time, but as soon as a regular person does it, everyone is all scared.
