It had seemed to me that the 'top of forum' page showed postings I had already read in gray - very useful.
However, on my most recent visit the site seemed to have 'forgotten' that I had read most of them.
Is this a known problem Rob? Does it only work for a limited amount of time? Can we do anything about it!

Hi,

I actually haven't done anything to make the posts that you read grayed out. That is done by IE/Netscape, it keeps track of where you have been. The reason that all your posts have changed back to 'unread' is that the history for IE only lasts for a certain time, then it is removed from your computer.

This amount of time can be changed. Go to the menu option 'tool' and then 'internet options'. On this window you can define who long the 'history' stays. (I always have this set to 999 days!!!!).

I have though about using cookies to store which pages you have read locally on your PC, but I have not had time to do it yet (or if it's actually possible!!).

I am going to rewrite the forum soon as I'm running out of web space as the message board that I have used tends to save alot of redundant info. First I have to get the 'Names DataBase' working.....

TVM. Obviously I'm going to have to pay more attention to how this internet thingy works :-)
