ISCR now has an '-l' option to create variable len c-isam
records.
I've been able to create variable len c-isam files,
but have not been able to figure out how to do so for files
which have alternate indexes.
Is this possible & how is it done?
Rob
attn: Chris Pepper, I heard at the last pro4 user conference
that Wall Street Systems has been using variable len c-isam recs
for awhile.... Do you use c-isam files with alternate index
c-isam files?

You can't use alternate indexes on vlen C-ISAM.
This is because C-ISAM can only index fixed length fields at a fixed offset. The only fixed length data you have in the 'traditional' Pro-IV 'internal format' record is the primary key.

Nothing's as simple as you think
