If reading from a list of rows that could be changing
underneath you is not a data integrity issue, then I don't
know what is !!

It seems to me that as long as you re-check the SELECT conditions in ARNE in change mode, then nearly everything is OK (the exception is that you miss any rows which have met the conditions since the cursor was originally established).
So it's all about the balance of risk and cost against performance and functionality, the usual project manager's nightmare.
Of course, in an ideal world, there'd be infinite resources, infinite technical knowhow, and no deadlines... and in any case in an ideal world we'd probably all convert our apps into something other than PRO-IV
